Brisbane's markets don't live in one place — they are scattered across the suburbs, each with its own crowd and its own reason to exist. Weekend markets for wandering
For the classic Saturday shuffle — stalls, coffee, a tote bag filling itself — West End is the heartland. The West End Markets by the river at Davies Park are the biggest of the inner-city weekend markets, and the surrounding streets add grocers like Harris Farm Markets for the rest of the week. In the CBD, Riverside Markets fill the Eagle Street riverfront on Sundays. Over in Paddington, the Rosalie corner keeps market culture alive daily through Rosalie Gourmet Markets and the neighbouring Rosalie Market Cafe.
The fresh food strongholds
The serious produce moves through the working markets. Rocklea is the city's engine room — home of the wholesale precinct and Brisbane Flower Market, plus institutions like Rocklea Meat Market.
